* How to RESIZE a crochet pattern

When you find a very beautiful crochet pattern, you like it very much but you want to make it in a larger or smaller size, what should you do?

Now, I will showing you how to increase or decrease the size of a crochet pattern.

1/ Use the Same Yarn but With a Larger/Smaller Hook.

If a pattern originally calls for acrylic yarn and a 3mm hook. So you can use a acrylic yarn with a 5mm hook for larger size and 2mm for smaller size.

You can see the sizing differences between the two. The larger the hook, the larger the finished product will be! The smaller the hook, the smaller the finished product will be!

2/ Double-strand the Yarn.

Hold two pieces of yarn together and work the pattern with the same hook size or with a larger hook size.
Another benefit to double stranding the yarn is that it gives you another opportunity to get creative with the pattern.

Different color combinations could be for different events or seasons – a Christmas heart with red and green yarn, or one with the colors of your favorite sports team. You can also use more than two strands of yarn, but you’ll need to use a bigger hook!

3/ Increase the Height of Stitches.

I went to the next height stitch for all stitches – half double crochet to double crochet, double crochet to treble crochet, and treble crochet to double treble crochet.

Changing the height of the stitches can also add textures to the finished project.

4/ Use the Thicker/Thinner Yarn

Lace yarn, silk yarn or acrylic yarn will be thinner than chunky yarn, fabric yarn,… You can choose the thicker yarn to make your product bigger and thinner yarn to make product smaller.

5/ Rewrite a pattern

If you crochet for a longtime and know how to create a pattern, you can rewrite a orignal pattern like what you want your product be, but it is difficult and take time to do it.
